Auto Repair for Rainier, Oregon Drivers

Rainier drivers have a choice to make every time a car breaks: cross the bridge and pay Washington sales tax, or drive an hour-plus to Portland. There's a better option down Highway 30.

The Rainier Repair Math

Rainier is a small town with very little of its own repair capacity, really just one shop in town. So when that shop is booked, or the job is beyond it, most folks default to crossing the Lewis and Clark Bridge into Longview. It's close, but there's a catch: Longview is in Washington, and Washington charges sales tax. On a major repair, that tax alone can add hundreds of dollars to the bill.

The other direction is Portland. No sales tax there, but it's well over an hour each way, and now your car lives in a city you have to keep driving back to.

The Oregon-Side Answer

We're the middle path. We're about 25 minutes down Highway 30 in St. Helens, much closer than Portland, and still on the Oregon side, so there's no sales tax on your repair. Same trip you'd make for errands anyway, and the money you'd hand Washington stays in your pocket.

For north county drivers we're set up to make the distance painless: call ahead with the symptoms, we'll have parts lined up where possible, and we plan the work so your car isn't stranded here over multiple trips.
