River City Adventures is our side-by-side ride day for local foster kids. Volunteer drivers, a convoy of side-by-sides, the St. Helens waterfront, and an afternoon of trail riding. It's a free adventure day for the foster kids in our county.
Owner Teresa Bails is a CASA advocate. She already works with foster kids in our area, and it's close to her heart. When she saw an organization down south running foster ride days at the dunes ("Dominate the Dunes"), the idea clicked instantly: we could do that here, for our city, for our kids.
Rather than reinventing the wheel, Teresa reached out to that organization to build on what they started, and she's working with ODHS (Oregon Department of Human Services) to organize the program for Columbia County's foster youth.
It's not transportation. It's a fun day, a chance for kids who've had a hard road to rip around on trails, eat lunch with people who showed up just for them, and go home with a good story.
We're building River City Adventures now, coordinating with ODHS, mapping the BLM route, and lining up volunteer drivers. River City Autohaus sponsors the program, and Teresa is organizing it. If you have a side-by-side and a free Saturday, or you work with foster families and want your kids included, we want to hear from you.
Bring your side-by-side and give a kid the best seat in the county for a day.
Help with lunch, logistics, or event-day organization, because every ride day needs ground crew.
Foster parents and caseworkers: reach out and we'll keep you posted on the first event date.
Call the shop and ask for Teresa, and she'll put you on the volunteer list for the first ride day.
